CHANGES TO DIRECTORATE
In compliance with the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa Listings
Requirements, Palabora hereby announces the following changes to its Board of
Directors:
* with effect from 27 January 2004, the resignation of Mr J C M van Galen and
the appointment in his stead of Mr J C Posthumus. Both non-executive directors
are Anglo American nominees.
* with effect from 23 February 2004, the resignation of the Managing Director,
Mr David Sadler and the appointment in his stead of Mr Keith Marshall. As
reported in December 2003, Mr Marshall (45) is a Chartered Engineer with 25
years experience in underground mining. He is currently employed as a Mining
Executive in Rio Tinto"s gold and diamond product group in London, England. Mr
Sadler will leave Palabora Mining Company after a stay of some three and a half
years, during which time he has guided the Company through a difficult
transition from an open pit to an underground copper mine. He will take up a
new corporate role within Rio Tinto.
