CAPE TOWN Media group Sasani surged 25c, or almost 30%, to an intra day high of 110c yesterday on expectations that new film-making ventures will be reflected in results due soon.
The shares ended 10c or 12% better on the day at 95c on above-normal volumes of about 750000 shares changing hands in 84 deals. Sasani's average daily volume of trade is about 34000 shares.
The group is in a closed period as its results for the six months to December will be published next month.
Sasani is involved in the film Hotel Rwanda, starring Nick Nolte, Don Cheadle and South African actors including Desmond Dube, due to be shot partly in Johannesburg this year, while two other full-length films, Ask the Dust and The Constant Gardener, will be part-filmed in Cape Town, involving independent group Moonlighting Filmmakers.
The group said it expected "substantially" higher results this year as it diversified its focus.
