Lonrho Africa announces that it was notified yesterday that Montpellier Group
Plc ("Montpellier") no longer has a beneficial interest in the Company.
In September 2003, Montpellier transferred 5,650,000 Ordinary shares registered
in its own name (which represented 3.58% of the 157,572,088 Ordinary shares in
issue) to the Union Discount Company of London Limited ("UDC"), a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Montpellier.
On 21 October 2003, Montpellier sold UDC to Browallia Discount Company Limited.
On 3 November 2003 Montpellier ceased to have a beneficial interest in the
shares of the Company as a consequence of the completion of the transfer of its
remaining beneficial interest in 7,100,000 Ordinary shares (4.51%) to UDC.
