TRADING STATEMENT AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
In compliance with Rule 3.4 (b) of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Securities Exchange South Africa ("JSE"), Cementation wishes to advise
shareholders that earnings for the year ended 31 December 2003 will be
substantially lower than the audited results of the previous comparative period,
being the year ended 31 December 2002. The word "substantially" in this context
is defined as meaning a difference greater than 30%.
The decline in earnings, measured both in terms of headline earnings and basic
earnings, was largely attributable to a limited number of contract difficulties
that have been addressed through appropriate provisioning and/or contract
amendments. Basic earnings is defined as headline earnings after taking into
account exceptional items.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been
audited by Cementation"s auditors. Shareholders are therefore advised to
exercise caution when dealing in Cementation shares until the publication of
Cementation"s results for the year ended 31 December 2003 on or about 30 March
2004.
