TRADING STATEMENT AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
1. TRADING UPDATE
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Securities Exchange South
Africa, companies are required to publish a trading statement as soon as they
become aware that the financial results for the period to be reported on next
will be substantially different from that of the previous corresponding period.
It is expected that headline earnings per share will show an increase in excess
of 30% for the six months interim period to 29 February 2004, which includes the
effects of the Wetherlys acquisition from 28 October 2003.
2. CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
As the above information has not been reviewed or reported on by the company"s
auditors, shareholders are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the
company"s shares until publication of the financial results for the six months
interim period to 29 February 2004, which is expected to be mid May 2004.
