TRADING UPDATE AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are advised that it is expected that the headline earnings for the
year to 28 February 2004 will be substantially lower than those of the
comparative period last year, due primarily to the final costs incurred in
closing the grain trading division being greater than originally anticipated.
Substantially lower is defined in the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Securities Exchange South Africa as being equal to or greater than a 30%
decrease.
The above earnings information has not been reviewed or reported on by the
company"s auditors. Shareholders are accordingly advised to exercise caution
when dealing in the company"s securities until the publication of its results
for the year, towards the end of May 2004, when more detailed information will
be provided.
