Changes to the board of directors
Shareholders are notified that:
Mr DJ Brown was appointed as an Executive Director of Mercantile on 29 March
2004. Mr Brown has also been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Mercantile
with effect from the date of the published announcement of the company"s results
for the year ended 31 December 2003;
Dr R Ribas ceases his function as Acting Chief Executive Officer of Mercantile,
with effect from the date of the published announcement of the company"s results
for the year ended 31 December 2003, remaining on the board of Mercantile as a
Non-executive Director; and
Dr JH Real Pereira has resigned as a Non-executive Director of Mercantile on 29
March 2004.
