CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are advised that a subsidiary of the Group, which is a member of
the South African Futures Exchange, has a potential capital adequacy short fall.
The board is in the process of quantifying the potential impact of the situation
and expects to be in a position to advise shareholders as to the full impact
thereof by 30 April 2004. Shareholders are accordingly advised to exercise
caution when trading in the Group"s securities on the JSE Securities Exchange
South Africa until a full announcement in this regard is made.
