TERMINATION OF LISTING
Further to the announcement published on SENS on 2 April 2004, SMC shareholders
are advised that the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa ("JSE") has agreed to
terminate the listing of the Company with effect from the commencement of
business on, Wednesday, 28 April 2004 following a voluntary liquidation.
The quantum of the final liquidation dividend is US 30.7 cents. The Rand
equivalent of this amount is R 2.0685774, which is based on the exchange rate
ruling on conversion. The final liquidation dividend will be paid to
shareholders on Monday, 26 April 2004
