TRADING UPDATE AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Securities Exchange South
Africa ("JSE"), a listed company is required to publish a trading statement as
soon as it becomes aware that its financial results for the next reporting
period will be materially different from those of the corresponding period of
the previous year.
Accordingly, shareholders are advised that it is anticipated that Argent"s
results for the year ended 31 March 2004 will be substantially* higher than
those of the corresponding period of the previous year.
As the forecast has not been reviewed or reported on by Argent"s auditors,
shareholders are advised to exercise caution when dealing in their Argent shares
until the release of the year end results for the year ended 31 March 2004.
*: "substantially" is defined in the JSE Listings Requirements as a difference
of more than 30%.
