SPESCOM AWARDED $1.8 MILLION CONTRACT BY NETWORK RAIL
Third Million-Dollar Contract Received in Recent Months
SAN DIEGO, CA, May 10, 2004 - Spescom Software Inc (OTC BB: SPCO), a leading
provider of enterprise content and configuration management solutions, today
announced that Network Rail, based in the United Kingdom, has purchased an
enterprise license of Spescom"s eB platform valued at over $1.8 million for use
throughout its operations as its corporate standard for configuration
management.
"This significant new contract from Network Rail is the largest software
contract to date for eB and is a great endorsement of our technology," commented
Carl Mostert, Spescom Software"s CEO. "It follows an extensive evaluation
process and is based on the significant ROI that Network Rail has achieved using
eB on the West Coast project. Including this new contract, we have received over
$6 million of business from Network Rail over the past few years and anticipate
further contracts to assist Network Rail in deploying eB on various projects."
The contract follows the successful deployment of eB on Network Rail"s West
Coast Route Modernization program over the past 18 months. The West Coast Route
Modernization program is a $15 billion project that involves upgrading the
entire railway infrastructure between London and Glasgow. eB provides the
platform for not only storing the information about all the assets and
associated documents and records that comprise the West Coast railway line, but
also for controlling all changes as the rail infrastructure is upgraded. This
entails keeping track of the status of approximately one million assets and over
four million associated documents and records in a safety critical environment
characterized by extensive and continuous change.
"The Network Rail order is the third $1 million contract that we have secured in
the past few months," added Carl Mostert. "It places us in a good position to
meet our financial objectives of growth and profitability for the year."
