TRADING UPDATE AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are advised that Vesta`s interim results for the six months ended
29 February 2004 will be substantially lower (`substantially` being a decrease
of equal to or greater than 30% as defined in the revised JSE Securities
Exchange South Africa Listings Requirements) than that of the prior comparative
period.
The decrease in earnings is mainly attributable to decreased foreign exchange
profits as well as a taxation expense in the current period compared to no
taxation expense in the previous period. However, profitability and
efficiencies have improved.
The headline earnings for the six months ended 29 February 2004 have not been
reviewed and reported on by Vesta`s auditors, and shareholders are accordingly
advised to exercise caution when dealing in the company`s securities on the JSE
until the interim results are announced, which is expected to be on or about 28
May 2004
