CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are advised that Metropolitan is negotiating an empowerment
transaction with a broad-based black economic empowerment organisation that will
result in it acquiring an equity holding in Metropolitan.
Metropolitan is finalising the agreements, the financial structures and related
funding arrangements. Should these discussions be successfully concluded, this
transaction may have an effect on the price at which Metropolitan shares trade
on the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa. Accordingly, shareholders are
advised to exercise caution when trading in Metropolitan shares until further
announcements are made. The proposed transaction is subject to the required
shareholder and regulatory approvals.
