The Board of Lonrho Africa announces that Bernard Asher will step down as Non-
Executive Chairman and as a Director of the Company with effect from 31 May
2004. Mr Asher will be succeeded as Non-Executive Chairman by Christopher Mills,
currently a Non-Executive Director, with effect from the same date.
Michael Wilson, the Senior Non-Executive Director of Lonrho Africa, commented:
`Bernard has been Chairman of Lonrho Africa since the demerger from Lonrho plc
in 1998, a period which has witnessed significant changes and a major
restructuring of the Group. The Board would like to take this opportunity to
thank him for his considerable contribution to Lonrho Africa and wish him every
success in the future.`
