TRADING UPDATE AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are advised that the Group results in relation to headline earnings
and net asset value per share for the period ended 28 February 2004 will be
substantially lower (`substantially` being a decrease of equal to or greater
than 30% as defined in the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa`s (`JSE`)
Listings Requirements), when compared to the prior comparative period. This
decrease is largely attributable to the losses incurred by the Group`s
subsidiaries during the period, further details of which will be provided in the
interim results for the period, which are expected to be published by the 30
June 2004.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been
reported on or reviewed by the company`s auditors and shareholders are therefore
advised to exercise caution in trading in the company`s shares.
