The interim results for the six months to 30 June will be released on 2 August
2004.
The Group has previously communicated that it expects an improvement in headline
earnings in 2004, notwithstanding the impact of adverse external factors such as
the stronger currency, a small sugar crop and the high maize cost.
The headline earnings for the half-year to 30 June 2004 will reflect a
substantial, as defined by the Listings Requirements, improvement from the loss
for the first half of 2003.
This trading statement is issued in compliance with rule 3.4 of the JSE
Securities Exchange South Africa Listings Requirements. The above information
has not been reviewed or reported on by the Group`s auditors. Shareholders are
advised to exercise caution when dealing in the Group`s securities until the
Group`s results for the half-year ended 30 June 2004 are published.
