TRADING STATEMENT AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are advised that as a result of lower estimated returns from sugar
cane, together with increased interest costs, it is anticipated that the
company`s headline earnings for the interim period ended 30 September 2004 will
be materially lower than the headline earnings for the interim period ended 30
September 2003. (`materially` is defined in the Listing Requirements of the JSE
Securities Exchange South Africa as being between 10% and 30%).
As these results have not been reviewed or reported on by the company`s
auditors, shareholders are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the
company`s shares until publication of the interim results on or about 1 December
2004.
