Lonmin Plc was notified on 19 August 2004 that as at 18 August 2004 the
following parties no longer have notifiable interests in ordinary shares of US$1
each of the Company in accordance with Sections 198-202 (as amended) of the
Companies Act 1985.

Parent holding company for various direct and indirect subsidiaries, including

Principal shareholder of FMR Corp. and FIL.
The notification constituted separate notifications and were combined solely for
the purposes of clarity. Nothing herein should be taken to indicate that FMR
Corp. and its direct and indirect subsidiaries, FIL and its direct and indirect
subsidiaries or Mr. Edward C. Johnson 3d acted as a group or in concert in
respect of the interests which have ceased to be notifiable.
