Announcement in respect of the proposed disposal of Metro`s African operations
Further to the announcement by Metro on 9 July 2004, shareholders are advised
that -
- the terms and conditions pertaining to the disposal, as envisaged and
originally announced on 5 May 2004 and 22 June 2004, remain unaltered;
- negotiations regarding the formalisation of the funding arrangements are at
an advanced stage; and
- it is anticipated that the circular to shareholders will be issued on or
about Friday, 10 September 2004.
