FINALISATION OF CAPITAL DISTRIBUTION
Shareholders are referred to the announcement published by the company on SENS
on 22 July 2004 wherein it was advised that the board of directors of Alliance
had resolved to declare a capital distribution out of its share premium account
of 32,0 cents (2003: 2,0 cents) per share to ordinary and `N` ordinary
shareholders of the company recorded in the register at close of business on
Friday, 10 September 2004, being the record date (`the capital distribution`).
At the annual general meeting of the company held today, all resolutions
including the ordinary resolution relating to the capital distribution were
approved by the requisite majority of shareholders. The following salient dates
remain applicable to the capital distribution:

Date of payment Monday, 13 September
Share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between Monday, 6
