ECONET WIRELESS GROUP AND TELIKOM PNG Limited
Shareholders attention is drawn to the statement by Mr Strive Masiyiwa, CEO of
ECONET WIRELESS GROUP (`EWG`) that was made in response to various press reports
commenting on the possibility of the Government of Papua New Guinea abandoning
the partial privatisation of Telikom PNG Limited. A copy of this statement is
set out below for ease of reference.
As shareholders are aware, Altech has entered into a joint venture with EWG in
relation to certain telecommunication assets of which Telikom PNG Limited was a
proposed asset. Shareholders are referred to the formal announcement released on
SENS on 25 November 2004 for further information.
Altech is not aware of any formal communication from the Government of Papua New
Guinea in this regard and shareholders are assured that Altech will investigate
this matter and revert to shareholders in due course.

`STATEMENT FROM STRIVE MASIYIWA , CEO OF ECONET WIRELESS GROUP
I have today read media reports claiming that the Government of Papua New
Guinea, facing opposition from Parliament on the policy of privatisation, has
decided not to accept the proposal presented by the privatisation agency the
Independent Public Business Corporation (IPBC) to sell 51% of Telikom PNG to
Econet Wireless Group (EWG).
EWG has at this time received no formal communication from the Government of
Papua New Guinea or the IPBC on this issue.
We will issue a formal statement only after formal communication is received and
after we have had time to consider the alternate options which we understand the
PNG Government would like to present to EWG.
