TRADING STATEMENT
JCI is expecting a decrease of 490% in headline earnings per share for the six-
month period ended 30 September 2004 compared to the six months ended 30
September 2003. The headline earnings per share for the six months ended 30
September 2004, is expected to be a 12% improvement upon the prior six months
ended 31 March 2004. The information in this trading statement has not been
reviewed or reported on by JCI`s auditors. The interim results announcement is
expected to be published on or about 23 December 2004.
