First prospecting right in the Northern Cape issued to Diamond Core and the
Skeyfontein community
Diamond Core is very pleased to announce that a prospecting right has been
granted by the Department of Minerals and Energy over the Skeyfontein property.
Skeyfontein is situated near Postmasburg in the Northern Cape Province and the
project is jointly owned by Diamond Core and the Skeyfontein Communal Property
Association through Dikeing Mining (Pty) Limited.
`Diamond Core was assisted by MSA Geoservices in securing this right, which we
understand is the first diamond prospecting right to be granted in the Northern
Cape in terms of the new Minerals Act.
We are delighted that we now have security of tenure and can confidently
continue with our prospecting activities over the farm,` said Theo Botoulas, the
Managing Director of the company.
As was stated in the company`s annual report for the year ended 30 June 2004,
the preliminary prospecting activities conducted to date by MSA Geoservices on
Skeyfontein have indicated a number of anomalies. Kimberlite indicator minerals
have been found in several locations on the farm. The company will be
conducting chemical probe analysis on the samples collected in these areas as
well as on samples taken from the known kimberlite dyke outcrop on the property.
(Chemical probe analysis provides confirmation as to whether the source
kimberlite originated in the diamond stability field and therefore could be
diamondiferous.) The results from the chemical probe analysis should be
available by the middle of February 2005 and will indicate target areas for a
drilling programme.
