TRADING UPDATE
Shareholders are advised that for the 6 months to 31 December 2004 the company`s
Headline Earnings were approximately 7 cents per share compared with a loss of
12.18 cents per share for the comparable period in 2003. The Earnings Per Share
for the same period were approximately 3 cents per share against a loss of 12.36
cents per share.
The improvements are due to the combination of increased commodity prices,
significantly increased coal production, the disposal of non-core investments
and discontinuance of loss making operations.
Shareholders are also advised that the company`s results for the six months
ended 31 December 2004 have not been reviewed and/or reported on by the
company`s auditors. It is anticipated that the results for the six months ended
31 December 2004 will be published on or about 15 February 2005.
