COUP FOR SEKUNJALO INVESTMENTS LIMITED, AS FORMER DIRECTOR - GENERAL OF LAND
AFFAIRS DR GILINGWE MAYENDE JOINS THE SEKUNJALO GROUP
Sekunjalo Investment Limited is delighted to announce that the former Director-
General of Land Affairs Dr Gilingwe Mayende has been appointed Chief Executive
of Sekunjalo Industrial Holdings a subsidiary of Sekunjalo Investments
(`Sekunjalo`) Limited.
Mayende will head the portfolio of investments which include fishing subsidiary
Premier Fishing, the food and agricultural business and the impending move by
Sekunjalo Investments into the Power Utilities.
Dr Surve, Chief Executive Officer of Sekunjalo has said that it is a coup for
Sekunjalo to be able to attract someone of this managerial expertise and wealth
of networks.
Dr Mayende has said that it was an easy decision to join Sekunjalo after turning
down other offers since Sekunjalo is an outstanding example of Black Economic
Empowerment and transformation in this country. The values of Sekunjalo
attracted him most and the opportunity to work with pioneers of Black Economic
Empowerment such as Dr Surve, CEO of Sekunjalo Investment Limited.
Dr Surve said that this appointment represents an exciting new phase for the
group to consolidate its position as a pre-eminent empowerment company involved
in manufacturing, processing with a commitment of job creation and employment in
South Africa. Dr Surve said that Dr Mayende`s extensive experience working with
communities and people in the public sector will add value to the Sekunjalo
Group.
Dr Mayende will be appointed in due cource to the main Board of Directors at
Sekunjalo, CEO of Sekunjalo Industrial and Chairman of Sekunjalo`s recent
acquisition, Synergy Computing.
