The Company announces the resignation of Mr. Mark Angus Barnes as a non-
executive director on the Board of Western Areas, with effect from Thursday, 3
February 2005. Mark was appointed a director on 13 February 2003 and has
resigned due to other commitments to pursue his career. The Board of Western
Areas wishes Mark well in his future endeavours and thanks him for his valuable
contributions.
