DECLARATION OF ORDINARY DIVIDEND NO 55 AND ANNOUNCEMENT AND WITHDRAWAL OF
CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a final ordinary dividend of 850 cents per ordinary
share has been declared in respect of the year ended 31 December 2004. The last
date to trade cum dividend will be Friday 8 April 2005. Trading will commence ex
dividend from Monday 11 April 2005 and the record date will be Friday 15 April
2005. Date of payment will be Monday 18 April 2005.
Share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between Monday 11
April 2005 and Friday 15 April 2005, both days inclusive.
The audited consolidated profit before taxation of the company and its
subsidiaries for the year ended 31 December 2004 amounts to R228 611 000 from
which source this dividend will be fully funded.
FURTHERMORE SHAREHOLDERS ARE ADVISED that the negotiations have been
successfully completed for the sale of 25% of its subsidiary, Smiths
Manufacturing (Pty) Limited to Denso Corporation subject to confirmation by the
Competitions Commission. Shareholders are therefore advised that caution is no
longer required when dealing in the company`s securities and the cautionary
announcements dated 13 January 2005 and 24 February 2005 are hereby withdrawn.
