Trading Statement
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Securities Exchange South
Africa (`JSE`), a listed company is required to publish a trading statement as
soon as it is satisfied that a reasonable degree of certainty exists that its
financial results for the next reporting period will differ by at least 20% from
those of the previous corresponding financial period.
The Board of African Life advise that its earnings and headline earnings will be
70% to 80% and 30% to 40% higher respectively than for the year ended 31 March
2004. Earnings per share and headline earnings per share will be 71% to 81% and
32% to 42% higher respectively than for the year ended 31 March 2004. The
increase in operating surplus will be 23% to 33% higher than the previous
financial year.
