Cautionary announcementShareholders are referred to the 2005 annual report, in which it was disclosed
that the results included a substantial provision against a liability which is
under dispute and that the Company expected the dispute to be settled within
such provision. The matter was again referred to in the disposal announcementdated 4 July 2005.
The Company, regrettably, has not been able to settle the matter on the basis
previously anticipated. Whilst efforts in this regard are continuing, failure
to reach a settlement may have a materially negative impact on the value of theCompany`s shares.
Accordingly, in the circumstances referred to above, the Company is presently
not in a position to determine if, when and upon what basis, the dispute will be
settled and/or to determine the actual amount of any potential liability thatmay arise there from.
The Company therefore advises shareholders to exercise caution when trading in
the Company`s shares. An update dealing with this situation will be published
by no later than the first week of September 2005.Johannesburg
