DEALING IN SECURITIES BY A DIRECTOR
In compliance with section 3.63 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited
(`the Listings Requirements`) we hereby advise that for financial planning
purposes Mr A v A Boshoff, Chief Executive : Discount Division of Edcon, has
purchased and sold 300 000 Edcon shares over which options had been issued to
him. The details of these transactions are as follows:
A. Nature of Transaction: Purchase pursuant to the exercise
of options
Transaction Date : 19 August 2005
Class of Shares : Ordinary shares of 1 cent each
Number of Shares : 300 000
Price per share : 399 cents
Value of Transaction : R1 197 000.00
Nature of interest : Directly beneficial
Option Strike Price : 399 cents per share
Option Strike Date : 19 August 2002
Vesting Periods : 30% after three years from the option strike date, a
further 30% after four years from the option strike
date, and the balance after five years from the
option strike date, provided all options are
purchased by no later than 10 years after the option
strike date.
B. Nature of Transaction: Sale on the open market

Share : 3266 cents

Nature of interest : Directly beneficial
In terms of Section 3.66 of the Listings Requirements prior clearance for Mr
Boshoff to deal in the above securities has been obtained from Mr W S
MacFarlane, non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Edgars
Consolidated Stores Limited.
