NOTICE OF GRANT OF OPTIONS IN TERMS OF PARAGRAPHS 3.63 TO 3.74 OF THE JSE
LISTINGS REQUIREMENTS
In compliance with paragraphs 3.63 to 3.74 of the Listings Requirements of the
JSE Limited, notice is hereby given that the following executive directors and
the company secretary were granted options in terms of the Absa Group Limited
Share Incentive Scheme (`the Scheme`) effective 18 August 2005 at an allocation
price of R91.70 per ordinary Absa share (being the volume-weighted average
traded price of Absa ordinary shares on the 17 August 2005). Approval for the
respective individual allocations and clearance to deal was given on 18 August
2005. The schedule of the respective individual allocations was approved by a
Trustee on 9 September 2005.

In terms of the Scheme, one-third of the options vest on the third anniversary
