Johannesburg - Pretoria-headquartered phone group Telkom (TKG) has, in a bid `to avoid a leadership vacuum`, appointed Wally Beelders, Charlotte Mokoena and Ian Timmerman to assume the positions of the suspended trio on an interim basis, it emerged this week.
The appointment of the interim bosses follows the suspension of investor relations executive Belinda Williams, chief of sales and marketing Nombulelo Pinky Moholi and head of human resources Oupa Magashula pending an internal inquiry by the listed telecommunications group on Monday.
I-Net Bridge has learnt that the positions of Moholi, Magashula and Williams have been filled in the interim by managing executive for corporate and global markets Beelders, executive of centre for learning and organisational capacity Mokoena and Timmerman who is senior manager with treasury administration.
Telkom corporate communications executive Lulu Letlape refused to divulge reasons behind the trio`s suspension although it was widely believed that the three were unhappy with the outcome of the recent reshuffling at the company.
Letlape on Tuesday confirmed that the company was aware of Williams` unhappiness but noted that the suspended boss` matter with the company was `confidential`.
Meanwhile, Sizwe Nxasana who was replaced by Papi Molotsane as Telkom CEO with effect from September 1 has been appointed chief executive at FirstRand Bank and is due to fill the position in January 2006.
Nxasana, a chartered accountant, was at the helm of the phone monopoly for eight years - and is still at Telkom ahead of a structured hand-over process to his successor.
At 09:30 Telkom`s shares on the JSE were trading at R123 from Monday`s close of R122.
