PRIMEDIA ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES IN CONTENT DIVISION
Primedia today announced the appointment of Ferdi Gazendam as Chief Executive of
Content for the Primedia Group, from his current role as Chief Executive of the
Ster-Kinekor Group of companies. The news follows an announcement by Primedia
at its year-end results presentation earlier this month, that it had taken a
strategic decision to ramp up and diversify its content business. The Group
also announced that Fiaz Mohamed, currently Chief Operations Officer of the Ster
Kinekor cinema chain, will be promoted to Chief Executive, representing another
significant step in the successful, ongoing transformation of the company.
Commenting on the changes, William Kirsh, CEO, Primedia, said: `In his five
years with Primedia, Ferdi has added significant value to the group through his
leadership of the Ster-Kinekor Group. His extensive experience in the world of
content will be invaluable as we build our exposure in this area.`
Commenting on his new role, Ferdi Gazendam, said: `I am delighted to be taking
up this new role and in turn, to see Fiaz Mohamed take over as Chief Executive
of the Ster-Kinekor cinema chain. He has a tremendous understanding of the
cinema business and I have every confidence in his capability to lead our chain
of cinemas into its next phase of growth.`
Primedia`s current content businesses include Ster-Kinekor Classic, Ster-Kinekor
Junction and Cinema Nouveau (cinema exhibition), Ster-Kinekor Product
Distribution (film distribution), Ster-Kinekor Home Entertainment (video and DVD
distribution), Ster-Kinekor Games (electronic games distribution), Airgames
(mobile content), DVD City (home entertainment outlets in townships) and
Book4Golf (online commercialisation of Golf).
