DEALING IN SECURITIES BY A DIRECTOR
In compliance with section 3.63 of the Listings Requirements of JSE Limited
("the Listings Requirements") we hereby advise that for financial planning
purposes Mr S M Ross, Chief Executive Officer of Edcon, has purchased and sold 1
000 000 Edcon shares over which options had been issued to him. The details of

These transactions represent approximately 11% of Mr Ross" total holdings of
Edcon ordinary shares and outstanding share options.
In terms of section 3.66 of the Listings Requirements prior clearance for Mr
Ross to deal in the above securities has been obtained from Mr W S MacFarlane,
non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Edcon.
