COMMENTARY
The group"s core casino interests performed very well in the period under review
and remain well positioned for sustainable growth. This is reflected in the
substantial increase in the value of Real Africa"s interest in Afrisun Leisure.
Agreement has been reached for Afrisun Leisure to take up a 10% interest in the
casino to be built in Worcester, in line with the strategy of increasing Real
Africa"s exposure to the gaming industry. Afrisun Leisure received dividends of
R31,8 million (2004: R16,0 million) in the six months ended 30 September 2005.
Oceana reported to their shareholders that the decrease of 24% in headline
earnings was mainly due to difficult fishing conditions, competitive market
conditions, the strong rand and the costs of the closure of the Namibian hake
operations. Oceana"s net cash balances increased by R166 million. The Oceana
board expects an increase in headline earnings for the year ahead subject to a
satisfactory outcome to long-term fishing rights.
Life Esidimeni (formerly Lifecare) maintained profitability in the period under
review having experienced mixed trading conditions. Its balance sheet remains
strong.
The R638 million cash outflow from financing activities is mainly due to the
capital reduction of R371 million paid to shareholders in August 2005 and the
unwinding of Persetel Q Data Africa Holdings Limited (PQAH).

NOTES ON THE BASIS OF PREPARATION
In accordance with the revised JSE Limited Rules and Regulations for South
African listed companies, Real Africa is required to adopt International
Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for the year ending 31 March 2006. However,
the group"s significant associates have financial year-ends subsequent to Real
Africa"s and these entities have not yet completed their conversion to IFRS.
The group has obtained dispensation from the JSE Limited and the financial
information has been prepared in conformity with South African Statements of
Generally Accepted Accounting Practice, using the accounting policies as
described in the group"s 2005 annual report. As soon as the IFRS compliant
financial information of the associates becomes available, the group will
republish its interim results in conformity with IFRS. The conversion to IFRS by
Real Africa and its subsidiaries is not expected to have a significant impact on
the results of the group.
We refer to the group"s 2005 annual report. With effect from 16 June 2005, PQAH
became a wholly owned subsidiary of Real Africa. In preparing the financial
information for the period under review, those minority interests in PQAH that
retained their entitlement to Business Connexion Group Limited (BCX) shares have
been allocated their full share of the attributable increase in fair value of
R19,5 million on their investment in BCX. Group investment gains/(losses)
include an increase in the fair value adjustment of R12,7 million in respect of
the group"s investment in Dimension Data plc of which R9,0 million is
attributable to Real Africa.
