The board of directors of financial services group Absa Group Limited announces
the appointment of Ms Monhla Hlahla, current CEO of the Airports Company of
South Africa (ACSA), as a non-executive director of the Absa Group Limited
board, effective 20 December 2005.
During her career Ms Hlahla has assumed various leadership positions. Presently
she serves as a non-executive director of Air Traffic and Navigation Services
(ATNS). She is the 2nd vice-chairperson and special advisor to the chairperson
of Airports Council International World Governing Body. Additionally, Ms Hlahla
holds non-executive director positions at SA Tourism and Business Against Crime.
She is also a trustee of the International Marketing Council of South Africa.

Ms Hlahla"s calibre on our board and we look forward to her contributions that
will assist the Group to reach its strategic objectives."
In 2001 Ms Hlahla was appointed Chief Executive Officer at ACSA. She completed
Bachelor and Honours degrees (Economics) and a Masters (Urban and Regional
Planning) in the United States of America. During her studies Ms Hlahla worked
for the Coalition for Women"s Economic Development in Los Angeles.
In 1994, she reinvested her expertise in South Africa and joined the Development
Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), where she successfully managed several large
infrastructure projects.
Following her achievements with DBSA, Ms Hlahla joined Old Mutual Employee
Benefits as Regional Manager, Northern Region, a position she held until she was
appointed CEO of ACSA.
