DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCEMENT

The trustees of the Satrix Collective Investment Scheme (being ABSA Bank
Limited) have resolved to make a distribution to holders of Satrix 40 Index
Securities recorded in the register in respect of the quarter ended 30 December
2005. This distribution will:
- be an amount of R0.0497 cents (four point nine seven cents) per Satrix 40
Index Security, constituted by:
- 4.97 cents in respect of dividends;
- be made to all holders of Satrix 40 Index Securities recorded in the
register on 30 December 2005;
- be effected on 27th January 2006
An unavoidable tracking error was incurred during the quarter as a result of
various corporate transactions whereby the Satrix 40 Trust was forced to sell
certain of its holdings at a discount and repurchase these securities at the
market price in order to ensure perfect ongoing tracking of the FTSE/JSE Top 40
Index. These transactions and the amounts expended to restore the correct index
exposure were:

A total amount of R449 156 was expended for this purpose and was funded from the
distributable amount
For the calendar year 2005, the Satrix 40 Index securities had an unaudited
Total Expense Ratio (TER) of 10,3 basis points (0,103%).
