APPOINTMENT OF MANAGING DIRECTOR
In compliance with paragraph 3.59(a) of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Limited, notice is hereby given of the following appointment to the board of
directors of CBL:
"At the Annual General Meeting of the company in July 2005, the Chairman
mentioned that Mr Dudley Crookes, after 26 years as Managing Director, would be
retiring in July 2006.
The Board is very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Guy Stanley Clarke
as Managing Director of Crookes Brothers Limited, with effect from 1 August
2006, having accepted the position of Managing Director designate from 1 April
2006.
Guy Clarke (49) matriculated from Michaelhouse and obtained his BSc Eng.(civil)
Cum Laude at the University of Natal (1978) and later completed a Masters degree
at Wits. University (1986). Followed by an MBA (Cum Laude), at Stellenbosch
University in 1991. His early working career was with the Anglo American Company
in mine civil engineering projects.
Since 1987, Guy has been with the Industrial Development Corporation progressing
through many departments, rising to Executive Vice President Industrial Division
since June 2004. During this time he has been extensively involved in project
evaluation and implementation.
Through his knowledge of industry, both in South Africa and internationally,
his network in the local industries and his experience in the changing South
African economy, it is expected that Guy will be able to build on an excellent
foundation set by his predecessor, Dudley Crookes, and add value to the company
in the demanding global agricultural environment.
The Board welcomes Guy to the company which is at present a primary producer of
agricultural products. There are many changes taking place in agriculture in
South Africa and we look forward to being part of these changes and the growth
prospects they may bring".
