CHAIRMAN"S STATEMENT
FINANCIAL RESULTS
There was a marked reduction in the operating losses suffered by the group but
as envisaged in the Interim Report 2005 the company could not return to positive
headline earnings for fiscal 2005.
Results are summarized as follows:
2005 2004
N$`000 N$`000
Revenue 58 344 91 815
Operating Loss (1 042) (3 922)
Net loss before taxation (6 088) (8 045)
Loss after taxation (27 697) (5 295)
Headline earnings (29 564) (5 405)
The reason for the considerable increase in net loss after tax and also headline
earnings, is the reversal of deferred tax assets and liabilities.
The group"s inability to return to profitability is ascribed mainly to the
following:
The low level of the pilchard total allowable catch (TAC).
Operational and infrastructural problems in Angola impacted negatively on this
venture resulting in the early return of the fleet and substantially lower
catches.
The effect of the strong Namibian dollar on US dollar denominated proceeds from
Angola.

PRODUCTION
The operation of the group`s pilchard canning factory was not feasible due to
the low level of pilchard quotas allocated for 2005. Only one pilchard canning
factory was operational in Walvis Bay and group vessels delivered all pilchard
catches to this factory for canning.
The group operated its fishmeal plant during the year under review and
industrial fish processed at the fishmeal plant included catches by private boat
owners and other factories.
Vessels operating in Angola caught 19,676 tons (2004: 35,956 tons) industrial
fish, which was delivered to shore based facilities operated by third parties,
for the production of fishmeal.
SALES
The market for canned pilchard, fishmeal and fish oil remained firm resulting in
low inventory levels.
DIVIDENDS
The board has resolved that no dividends be declared nor are any recommended
(2004: Nil).
GOING CONCERN
Negotiations are ongoing to provide additional capital and working capital in
order to continue as a going concern.
This is elaborated upon in the directors" report.
PROSPECTS
The Ministry of Fisheries & Marine Resources in Namibia will decide on the
granting of a pilchard TAC for 2006 after a scientific survey of the resource
during March 2006.
Industrial fish catches during the first two months of 2006 were satisfactory.
Cost control and improved efficiencies continue to be addressed.
The group"s ability to return to profitability will be largely dependent on the
granting of a meaningful pilchard TAC and successful operations in Angola.
APPRECIATION
I take this opportunity to thank my fellow directors for their guidance and
counsel, the management of the group for its dedication and the staff and
fishermen for their loyalty in these trying times.
