NEW CLICKS HOLDINGS - RESTRUCTURING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
New Clicks has restructured and strengthened its board of directors with the
appointment of five new directors. Professor Peter Eagles (57) and Martin Rosen
(55) have been appointed as non-executive directors, while senior executives
David Kneale (51), Keith Warburton (48) and Michael Harvey (37) have been
appointed as executive directors, with effect from 10 April 2006.
As part of this restructuring, the group announces that Dr Allen Zimbler and
Peter Swartz have resigned as non-executive directors, also with effect from 10
April 2006.
Professor Eagles is president of the South African Pharmacy Council and
chairperson of the Medicines Control Council of South Africa. He is also
professor of pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of the Western Cape
(UWC). Professor Eagles will consult to New Clicks on its professional pharmacy
and healthcare strategy, as well as playing a leading role in business
transformation.
Martin Rosen is a highly accomplished retailer and marketer, having spent 33
years with Pick `n Pay before starting his own marketing consultancy in 2004.
After 17 years in the retail operations of Pick `n Pay, Martin served as group
marketing director and later as managing director of Pick `n Pay Group
Enterprises.
New Clicks chairman, David Nurek, said the appointments will elevate the board"s
expertise in the critical areas of professional pharmacy and FMCG retailing and
marketing.
"The group upweighted its senior management resources in the second half of 2005
with the external appointments of David Kneale and Keith Warburton to ensure
that New Clicks once again has the talent to restore the group"s performance.
The appointment of David and Keith to the board, together with Michael Harvey,
acknowledges the key role that the three members of the group"s executive
committee will play in leading the group into the future," said Nurek.
"By broadening the collective knowledge base of our directors we believe the
group now has a well-balanced board with a range of complementary skills,
together with a fair balance between executive and non-executive directors."
The board now comprises six non-executive and three executive directors:
