ALTECH ACQUIRES FRENCH IT BUSINESS
Altech ISIS has agreed to acquire, for an undisclosed sum, MobiMaster, a
specialist telecommunications real-time converged (pre- and post paid) billing
system provider business from listed French company, Linedata Services. The
agreement reached between Altech and Linedata Services requires that conditions
precedent are satisfied, including South African Reserve Bank approval.
The acquisition represents an on-going concern that includes the purchase and
transfer of the telecommunications billing intellectual property rights ("IPR"),
together with all MobiMaster staff and customer contracts, which will now be
incorporated under the Altech ISIS banner.
The MobiMaster product complements the existing Altech ISIS iCAP products,
offering real-time customer care, service request management/trouble ticketing,
provisioning, administration, work flow and business rule management
functionality.
Altech CEO, Craig Venter commented "Acquiring a 100% ownership of the MobiMaster
IPR combined with further investment to integrate iCAP and MobiMaster will
result in a software product that will enable Altech ISIS to offer a real-time,
end-to-end, converged customer care and billing solution, to new and existing
customers".
In addition, Venter said, "Through the acquisition, Altech ISIS will gain access
to telecommunications markets in French-speaking countries and have a presence
in France to service the EMEA region to meet the Altech ISIS international
strategic initiatives. Telecommunication operators currently using the
MobiMaster system include Bouygues Telecom and Libertis"
Altech ISIS MD, Johan Gellatly says of the acquisition, "The MobiMaster product
complements the suite of products offered by Altech ISIS and the acquisition of
the MobiMaster business enhances the Altech ISIS product offerings that will
unlock significant synergies".
In addition, MobiMaster"s flexible billing functionality can also be offered to
non-telecommunications environments.
"This investment creates the opportunity for Altech ISIS to deliver solutions to
customers outside of the GSM mobile operator market" said Venter, "Specifically,
fixed line operators, broadband operators, utility providers and toll road
billing enterprises to name a few". Venter also commented "In addition, it may
be possible to deploy the integrated solution internally enabling Altech ISIS to
complement consolidated billing and CRM functions for companies such as Altech
Autopage Cellular and Altech Netstar".
Altech ISIS MD Johan Gellatly says "This strategic acquisition enables Altech
ISIS to offer a comprehensive real-time, end-to-end, converged telecommunication
network operator grade customer care and billing solution. Altech ISIS will be
in a position to leverage these synergies to offer a turn-key solution that is
very attractive to network operators with the added advantage of having to deal
with one IT supplier for 80% to 90% of their required business functionality.
Altech ISIS is now in a position to compete with international vendors for this
market where it was not possible in the past.
Altech ISIS currently has telecommunications customers in South Africa,
Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria. The MobiMaster acquisition
will add telecommunications customers in Gabon and the Caribbean.
