ELECTRONIC PROXY VOTING
Edcon wishes to inform investors, stockbroking institutions, securities services
organisations and Central Securities Depository Participants (CSDPs) that it is
seeking to foster improved communication and facilitate progressive shareholder
relationships by providing certificated shareholders and shareholders who have
dematerialised their shares with "own name" registration with an electronic
online proxy voting facility.
In addition, shareholders who have dematerialised their shares, other than those
shareholders who have dematerialised their shares with "own name" registration,
may also use the electronic voting facility for purposes of instructing their
CSDP or broker as to how they wish to vote.
Electronic online proxy voting is increasingly being used in the USA, UK,
Australia and Canada to enable shareholders to participate more effectively in
the proxy voting process in respect of resolutions proposed at a company"s
general meetings.
