UPDATE - KOLO KIMBERLITE PROSPECTING LICENCE GRANTED
The Commissioner of Mines of Lesotho informed the directors of Angel Diamonds
(Pty) Ltd ("Angel") on 13 June 2006 that Angel has been granted a Prospecting
Licence No 002 for two years, extendable for another year, over an area of 5,53
km2 in the district of Mafeteng. A cluster of diamondiferous kimberlite pipes
and fissures occur in the area, including the Kolo kimberlite pipe.
In terms of the new Mines and Minerals Act No 37 of 2005, the Government of
Lesotho could acquire up to 20% in the project should a Mining Lease be
approved. In the event that prospecting is successful and an application for a
Mining Lease is applied for, Thabex will make 20% of its 80% shareholding in
Angel available to the Lesotho Government.
