PROSPECTING LICENCE FOR SIMMERS
Simmer & Jack Mines, Limited announced today that the Department of Minerals and
Energy had issued its subsidiary, Sabie Mines (Pty) Limited, a prospecting right
over the Farm Rietfontein in the Sabie area.
Previously in the Rand Mines stable, Rietfontein Mine was first established in
1910 and was mined extensively between 1937 and 1945 until wartime conditions
increased working costs to the point where it was no longer considered viable.
Simmers CEO Gordon Miller said that the company was of the view that modern
exploration techniques would reveal a considerable ore reserve in the area and
had applied for a number of permits in the Pilgrim"s Rest/ Sabie goldfields.
"This is the start of Simmers" programme to revitalize exploration in this
region through its subsidiary companies TGME and Sabie Mines." said Miller.
Historically this region has produced over 6-million ounces of gold.
