TRADING STATEMENT
ZCI is currently finalising its results for the fifteen months ended 31 March
2006, which will be released shortly. In this regard, shareholders are advised
that headline earnings per share will be between 40% and 50% lower than that
reported in the twelve-month reporting period ended 31 December 2004.
This decrease is largely due to the reduction of ZCI"s shareholding in Konkola
Copper Mines plc ("KCM") from 58% to 28.4% with effect from 31 October 2004 and
the related change in the treatment of KCM in the financial statements of ZCI.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been
reviewed or reported on by the Company"s auditors.
