As part of the dual listed company structure, Investec plc and Investec
Limited notify both the London Stock Exchange and the JSE Limited of
matters which are required to be disclosed under the Disclosure and Listing
Rules of the United Kingdom Listing Authority (the "UKLA") and/or the JSE
Listing Requirements.
(1) NOTIFICATION PURSUANT TO SECTION 198 OF THE UK COMPANIES ACT1985
The Company received notification from the Investec plc Jersey No. 1 Trust
(the "Trust") on 1 September 2006 that the Trust has disposed of 2,500,000
Investec plc ordinary shares of GBP0.001 as a consequence of which the
percentage holdings of the Trust in the issued share capital of Investec
plc had changed as set out in the tables below:

As a result of the disposal of the shares, the capital of the Company has
increased by the market value attributable to these shares. This new
capital will be used by the Company in the normal course of its business.
Pursuant to section 324 of the UK Companies Act 1985, the Trust notified
the Company that as a result of disposal of 2,500,000 Investec plc ordinary
shares, the interest of each of the executive directors of the Company are
deemed to be interest in the 2,500,000 Investec plc ordinary shares has
decreased. This is because all the executive directors of the Company
(together with all of the employees of the Investec plc group) are
potential beneficiaries of the Trust and are therefore treated as
interested in all the unallocated shares held by the Trust.
Furthermore, we advise of the following changes to attributable interests
in the ordinary shares of Investec plc and Investec Limited in compliance
with Rules 3.63 - 3.74 of the JSE Listing Requirements notified to the
Company on 1 September 2006:

In compliance with Rules 3.63 - 3.74 of the JSE Listing Requirements, we
advise of the following disposals of Investec plc ordinary shares and

the exercise of options held in terms of the Investec plc Share Option Plan
