NET ATTRIBUTABLE ASSET VALUE OF THE VARIABLE RATE DEBENTURES ("DEBENTURES")
In April this year, the board advised debenture holders that it would publish
the net attributable asset value ("NAAV") of the debentures on a quarterly
basis. Debenture holders are reminded that the NAAV is only one method with
which to evaluate the debentures. Investors are therefore cautioned not to make
financial decisions based solely on the published NAAV.
Compass last reported the NAAV to debenture holders as at 30 June 2006, when the
NAAV was 754.5 cents per debenture on a cum interest basis and 721.5 on a net
interest basis. The company paid interest of 33.0 cents per debenture on
14 August 2006.
The board is pleased to report that the cum interest NAAV as at 30 September
2006 amounted to 766.1 cents per debenture. The debentures therefore earned a
total return for the quarter of 6.2%. The total return on the debentures since
1 January 2002 is 25.8% per annum, compared to the benchmark CPI + 10% per annum
return of 15.2% over the same period.
The board will report the full results for the financial year ending 31 December
2006 during January 2007.
