EXECUTIVE CHANGES: REORGANISATION
As outlined in the recent annual results announcement of AVI on 11 September
2006, the AVI group of companies is reorganising its underlying brands and
related operations into natural groupings where the core skills, market
instincts and business activities are as similar as possible. In addition to
stimulating innovation and revenue growth, this new structure is intended to
unlock logical synergies within AVI and create business units of appropriate
scale. A significant part of this reorganisation is the creation of the Retail
Beverage Brands and Retail Snacking Brands business units.
Donnee MacDougall, who is currently head of National Brands Limited"s ("NBL"s")
Tea category has been appointed managing director of the Retail Beverage Brands
business unit, and Billy Oosthuizen, who is currently head of NBL"s Biscuit
category, has been appointed managing director of the Retail Snacking Brands
business unit. Donnee and Billy have considerable experience and successful
track records at NBL across all categories, securing both continuity and
expertise for both business units. The AVI Board takes this opportunity to
congratulate them on their well deserved appointments.
After a very successful career at NBL, spanning eleven years, eight as CEO,
Cliff Sampson has elected to consider opportunities outside of AVI. He will
however remain with AVI until the end of December 2006 and play an important
role in assisting with the initial stages of the reorganisation. The AVI Board
thanks Cliff for his very considerable achievements at NBL over an extended
period and wishes him every success in the future.
