WELLCO LAUNCHES KGB SUCCESSFULLY IN PORTUGAL
River Group is authorised to announce that Wellco has successfully launched the
KGB product into Portugal.
The KGB brand was successfully launched into the Portuguese market on the 19th
May 2006. A combination of strong public relations, print and outdoor media and
radio advertising resulted in Wellco"s strategic distribution partner in
Portugal exceeding initial launch performance metrics.
The applicable Portuguese target market comprises 850,000 individuals. Initial
projections forecast that the launch campaign would achieve a 2.5% penetration
over the 3 month launch period. Actual penetration achieved was approximately
7.0% in the first 3 months.
This success has allowed the strategic distribution partner in Portugal to
increase the retail footprint into Spain which is 4 - 5 times larger in
demographic population, retail outlets and has a higher disposable income per
capita. The anticipated launch is end November. Brazil, with its Portuguese base
and strong economic ties, has been targeted as the next market and a due
diligence is currently being performed to assess marketing and retail
distribution options.
Further areas of distribution include the USA and Canada where the product is
currently being registered with the regulatory bodies. This should take 3 to 6
months for registration.
The strong interest in the KGB product by the international market is offering
Wellco a truly global distribution opportunity. The acceptance of the brand by
the international markets has lead to a strong demand from our strategic
partners internationally to distribute further products in our full brand
portfolio.
