Proposed acquisition by Imperial of a controlling interest in Jurgens Ci
Imperial Holdings today announced the acquisition of a controlling interest in
Jurgens Ci (Pty) Ltd, the manufacturer and distributor of leisure caravans and
camping equipment. The transaction is subject to certain conditions precedent,
including approval by the competition authorities.
Jurgens Ci manufactures and sells approximately 2500 caravans and motor-homes
per year through a network of franchised dealers. It also manufactures, imports
and distributes a range of outdoor camping equipment. The company operates from
premises in GaRankuwa and Pinetown, and employs more than 800 people.
The proposed acquisition fits in well with Imperial"s mobility theme which
includes the sale and distribution of passenger and commercial vehicles and it
creates a new avenue for the group in the tourism and leisure sector.
